I want to start this post by saying that I GOT A JOB! I am so so excited because I have been hunting for a job for around a month. Plus, I am so behind in my credit card payments due to the lack of hours with my other job. Also, I owe a bunch of money to the DMV due to 2 parking tickets. I am quite excited and scared at the same of time of this new journey and a new chapter in my life.
Anyways, here are my July 2018 favorites: 5 things I truly enjoyed during the month of July!
IVANKA TRUMP SHOES
My very first favorite item this month are these shoes by Ivanka Trump. I acknowledge I do not like the idea of wearing something created by the infamous Trump family, however, the moment I saw these babes I fell in love and could not say no. Ignoring the name planted on the sole of the shoes, I am obsessed with them. I bought these on Burlington when I was looking for a shirt to go with my job interview outfit. Instead, I found these shoes and decided to take them with me instead of a shirt. Check how I style it for my job interview outfit here!
POLKA DOT HAIR SCARF
My second July 2018 favorites are silk hair scarfs. Silk hair scarfs have been pretty trendy lately, specially when wore to hold ponytails or buns. Mine is from Forever21 and it is amazing. I feel that the scarf really hits the vintage vibes required for this trend.
I bought this bag on a thrift store in while I was in Mexico. Originally this bag had a pink flower on the corner and pink straps. To make it look more modern, I cut off the flower and the pink straps. I have an idea for a DIY that includes adding two brown straps but I haven’t done it yet hehe. What I like about this bag is the size and the fact that it looks pretty good as a clutch!
SERIAL KILLER PODCAST
If you have been reading my blog for a while(hey there!) you’ll know about my grim obsession with true crime. I began getting annoyed with My Favorite Murder a little bit ago and the search for something new and sexy began. I found this serial killer podcast and I love it. The fact that they talk about the psychology behind the person or persons committing the crime. The narrative is divided into two episodes, usually the first one discusses the childhood of the person in question and the second goes over the crimes committed.
Also, the owners of this podcasts do one about cults, which is pretty good as well and find myself listening to multiple episodes. It has the same style of the serial killers podcasts, where they discussed the childhood and life of the person who began the cult.
PARADISE LOST DOCUMENTARY TRILOGY
My last July 2018 favorite is…more true crime related, I know I may seem annoying but this is what tickles my balls. The Lost Paradise documentary is a trilogy based on the West Memphis Three, which were a group of teenagers who spend 18 years of their life in prison for a crime they did not commit. The crime was the murder of three 8 year olds who were playing on the nearby forest, or at least that is what is thought.
I admit that the documentary may be a little bias in proving the innocence of the three teens. However, I did do research and nonetheless I believe they are innocent. Whatever evidence that was “found” by the police was not strong enough for someone to be convicted of the crime. Also, I believe some of the evidence was planted by the police and the prosecution to have a case.
I find this case to be interesting because it sheds light on the corruption by the police and the government. I get exasperated that Americans blind themselves to the fact that there is corruption in our government. Government officials and police are still seen with admiration despite claims about abuse of power. I am not generalizing here, I do believe there are some good cops who truly comply with their responsibilities. However, I do believe there are corrupt officials who want to screw people in order to get ahead of the game.
OK I am done rambling! that is for my July 2018 favorites.
What are your July 2018 favorites? Do you know about another case that I might find interesting?
