The word “neutral” is often associated with a negative connotation. However, wearing a neutral outfit does not have to be boring. Wearing a neutral outfit opens a world of infinite possibilities. For one, all the items in one outfit allow you to mix and match. You can wear the items or the outfit multiple times and people won’t notice. It does not take that long to get ready since you don’t have to worry about color.
One of the secrets to be able to pull off a neutral outfit during the summer is on the shape of the item. For example, you can wear a structured white button down and a flowy skirt in a neutral color, such as beige. Also you can go A La Kim K. West and wear a skin tight midi dress with a flowy trench coat on top. The contrast between the structured and the flowy item can add visual interest to a neutral outfit, even if the colors are similar. Also, it keeps a neutral outfit from looking boring because of the mix of fabrics and textures.
The contrast between soft and edgy is an option as well to add visual interest. There is nothing more visually appealing than an outfit that is soft, minimal and classy to have an element of edginess (at least in my humble opinion).
Since we are transitioning from spring to summer, I added a leather jacket to this look. I like mixing the edginess of a leather jacket with the softness of neutral colors.
Another way to add visual interest to a neutral outfit is the mix of neutral tones: black details from the shoes and sunglasses, and in the accessories.
oh dont forget to find a wall to blend yourself in!
For this outfit, I am wearing a pinky mauve t-shirt from Forever21. I really like the color of this top because it is not your typical white or black tee. However, the color of this top still falls under neutrals. For pants I am wearing these beige pants from Zara. As for shoes I am wearing these black espadrilles from Forever21, similar here & here .
For jewelry, I went for my usual medallion necklace from Forever21 (similar here) and this Mejuri gold bracelet (here). As for sunglasses I am wearing my faves at the moment, which are these melt mini sunglasses from Forever21 (Sold out in black but available in red [here] & similar here).
